Have you heard of the word “epithet?”

An “epithet” means a descriptive word or phrase used together or instead of a name and which has been accepted by many people. For example, in the case of a “geographical epithet,” this is the name that accompanies the original name of a country, city, and another well-known place (e.g. a mountain or lake).

It’s fun to learn and remember geographical epithets especially if you’re interested in travel.
